The other day I remember reading an article about how one could get in trouble by posting serial numbers (I think it was posted on eBay but I am not sure).

The bottom line was that the item might have been stolen (or someone might say it was) and the current owner risks some legal issues even if he had nothing to do with that: receiving stolen goods etc. After all, who knows what the history of a 30 years old lens really is when it probably changed hands dozens of times.

The recommended approach was to only give a partial serial number 1234xxx or similar.

It could be plain old good paranoia or a sign of our times. Or both.

I woldn't buy a memory card or even a crayon from them. Sounds like they know that some of their goods is suspicious. Where do they buy?

If they can't help you with something THAT simple, then they aren't worth looking into. If your item got "lost" in the mail, I bet they'd say it's "store policy" to not give you a refund either.

1 down, 10000000 other ebay sellers to go

Hi Roy,

I think that there's a reasonable explanation for their policy -- it's pretty common to not publish ser #s and I don't usually hold it against someone if they are reluctant to publish them on the web.

If you're looking for the version of this Series I, it's most likely a version I made by Kiron. The 67mm filter size and constant f3.5are the giveaways.
