Took these today at the shore by SF. I have no idea what they are, the bird book is at home.

Very nice! I think its an American Avocet - the picture in my book has them having apale greyhead/neck in winter, and the black and white pattern on the wings/body.

Tom,

You got it at the right moment. You got that at a precious moment (2nd) when its image was reflected . Nice shot

Actually I was having problems with my Sandisk SD card and it was not saving the entire file to the card, so #1 was a try at salvaging it.

A Stilt from today also, see how the highlights are gone too.

Perhaps you've already ID'd your 1st two shots as American Avocet in their winter plumage. I believe this to be a fairly unusual shot because they generally prefer to head south in the winter.

Very nice shots. I've been trying to get out more for the abundant photo ops on the lake now that the year-end madness is over at my job...

Love the reflections off the water on the 2nd and 3rd ones.

Really like the 2nd shot. Very rich color. There is a reflection of a log? above the avocets head that is kinda distracting. Perhaps clone it out?

Great bird shots and the water enhances them.
