Family time featuring Ma & Pa (Bald Eagles)

I have no idea which is Ma or which is Pa. They sure looked like a couple to me.

When I found him with my binoculars I thought there was only one in the tree. When I got to where I could get my 1st photo I realized there was two of them.

The first picture before I tried to move to get them both

Here is Ma & Pa

Lovely shots. Such superb detail in the feathers, and no blown highlights.

Do you use spot-metering all the time? If so are you metering off the head.

I think it is dur to the head being white, and the body brown, it makes them look as though the feathers are missing from the head - Hence bald.

Thanks Dal1970 for the nice comment and for looking.

Spot-Matering ???? All I can tell you is what I do. I set the little knob on Green AFS. When I press the shutter button where ever the little red shows up if I like that spot OK if I don't I move the camera and look for the little red light. It is pretty easy to get it to go where you want.

Roger, all I can do is Drool after seeing your shots. I can only hope I will get near the quality of your shots with my Pentax K10D. Tomorrow is a big day for me, my K10D is due to be delivered. Being a newbie, I'm excited to start learning.
Can you fill us in on the lens you used on your K1OD to take these fantastic photos?
Again, thanks for sharing. Since I ordered my camera, I've been watching for your posts everyday :|
