Wondering if any of you guys/girls on here do concert photo? If so, what modes are you guys using for shooting. I just gave a shot at it this past weekend. I used my Manual 28mm, 50mm, AND 135mm with and without the 2x converter(on the 135). I had my kit lens, but didn't try it at all... I used tugsten, ISO 400 & 800, depending on the lighting. Do you guys have any tips or info to use for concert photography? The place that I go to for shows is a pretty small place. wit pretty decent lighting(depending on the artist performing)..

I don't have a external flash yet, but I'm looking into getting one. What do you guys reccomend? I've been looking into the Sigma Super. And If I get a chance, I'd like to get a auto 50mm 1.4 down the line. I won a 28-70mm lens off ebay if the seller doesn't turn out to be a dick about the sale which I already paid for last week.

Any tips or info, please post up. Thanks.

I recently got a Promaster 7000M,with thededciated PTTL pentax module which works great with bothmy *istD and *istDL with F, FA, FA J,and DA lenses. To my knowledge, PTTL does not support anymanual lenses, so if you plan on using mostlymanual lenses you might bebetter offjust getting an auto thyristor flash.

Flash doesn't really work at concerts for me...Dims out the coloured lighting.

Here are some of my shots: http://tdn9.be/series.php?seriesid=5

Those were all with the kit lens and a cheap push-pull zoom.

I got some fast lenses now though, and shooting a 2 concerts this friday, I'll let you know how it went

I always shoot in Tv mode at concerts, 1 because Av assigns a way to slow shutter speed because of the few light there is. 2 because I need at least a speed of 1/90 - 1/125 to get a decent shot and still some exposure...ISO 1600 with slow lenses, 800 with a fast one.

Fast lens, no flash. As TDN says, flashdims out the nice stage light. I don't have SR (*istDS), I think that would be a great feature for concerts. Spot light metering, RAW.

I wanted to try RAW, but didn't. And also forgot to change my metering aswell. Hopefully when the cash comes in, I'll be ab;e to get my hands on a A50mm lens. Once I go thru my shots, I'll post up some of my shots. :-)

I second that . A lot of time flash is entirely out of the question.
Flaco you are getting there

This is arguably my best and lucky concert shot with a 135mm2.8. I maxed out on everything and at iso 1600 as well
