Never even knew SIGMA made a mirror.

Let alone f/1.8.... when most mirrors (even decent one) are like fixed F/8

Do you have a tech/spec link?

I have two Sigma f1:8 600mm mirror telephotos which work with my *ist DS.

The focusing is manual only and the aperture is fixed as one might expect.

I am sure someone with that type of camera can answer for you, meanwhile all I can say is that the lens works well on my *st DS.

As for most of the posts on this topic, well, :?

Hi AMN, on my DS (and I assume the other Pentaxi are similar) I set the camera mode of aperture priority and fire away. On the DS I did have to go to a menu to allow use of manual aperture but I dont know about the other camera models.

There is a lot on the web about the pros and cons of mirror lenses. Some like them some dont.

Their biggest advantage is low cost as well as very low weight/bulk. (500-1000mm can actually be hand held/moved about...at least with an IS camera.)

VS like a foot or more long and pounds, costing mucho $$$

But as most are fixed F of at least 8 or more... they are pretty much bright day time only lenses, and being manual focus usually... that can be difficult in a relatively dark VF because of the high F fixed apperture.
