I never took so many flower pict in my life. And I got tons of them in the Orchid show as organized by

The Southern Ontario Orchid Society.

http://www.soos.ca/Show2007/PublicInfo.htm

We had a great time shooting indoor this time of the yr

After the orchid shootout , we gathered at a nearby coffee shop . And there were 5 of us , George, Jerry, Sohail, me and Kosta (who joined in later). Not bad at all as a start in the middle of winter (say -5 deg C outside)

I have almost perfected by now the use of the manual Zenitar 16mm as a P&S. I raised up my left hand to take this pict.

This is the first time we can organize something for the Pentaxians in Toronto and the suburb and George has an idea of creating a webpage for Pentaxians in Toronto (& nearby area)

Likely we will be posting a few more and better pict later on

Daniel, Toronto

Edited later: Typo of the heading should read Feb 11 instead of Feb 1

That's the only trouble with going to places like that - too many things to shoot!

Looks like you had a good time there, and got some great shots.

As for left-handed shooting, now you are just showing off!!LOL Some of us have enough trouble with right-handed shooting!

Darren,

Nothing to brag about. Though fully manual, that lens is easy and fun to use. To me there is only two zones of focus. Near and far zone for focus setting. Its huge DoF will take care of rest. Do the metering and press the shutter. That is it.

Orchids are fascinating flowers - the second one reminds me of a bird. The only thing wrong with your off hand shot is that there isn't a camera on the table! These are really nice pictures.

Harriet,

Thanks for your kind compliment.
I was taking pict of the whole group incl me (before the 5th came in) with my left hand. Hmm there was a camera (belonged to Jerry) on the table behind the coffee cup though right in the middle of the pict. Because of the wide angle the pict is kind of twisted up (subject at both ends) and I tried to defish it. But that is even worse.

Beautiful orchid shots. What lens did you use for those? My father grows orchids as well. I'm going to have to brush up on my macro techniques once they come into bloom.

Hey Roy

We (5 )had a good time. This summer we will have more gathering after this start.

Royce

That is my only macro lens FA100mm2.8 macro. Some of the shots are not in macro setting. Like Tamron/Sigma, it is super sharp

Just uploaded the remaining 2 orchid shots
