Being stuck inside for the past 2 days (bad weather in Minnesota), I decided to put smc-F 28mm F2.8 and 540 FGZ flash to some good use. Luckily, my 3 1/2 old daughter wanted to follow her daddy so I handed over to her a Canon A710 P&S and here is what we managed to do.

This is her shot of me (smc-F 28mm F2.8 on K100D and 540 FGZ flash):

She was really thrilled we do this together (F3.5, ISO-200):

This is at F2.8 - pretty sharp lens:

Her attempt at product photography - waterproof housing for the P&S (F3.5, ISO-200):

Can't wait for that Florida vacation (F4, ISO-200):

In a few years, I hope to have another Pentaxian to share lenses and go shooting with :-)

DA, that first picture of your little girl is great. What an expression! She took a nice shot of you as well.

Thanks. When taking these kind of shots with either FA 35mm or F 28mm I noticed perspective distortion: nose, head etc.
The FA 50mm is much better in this regard but kinda long indoors.

The other element is ceiling bounce: the farther from the subject (but not too far), e.g. 50mm vs 28mm, the better the flash angle. With both FA 35mm and F 28mm I get too much on top of the head when trying close shots. But they are great for small groups.

She enjoyed getting to do things she saw me doing, for example firing the flash:

Hate to say it but HER flash on flash shot of you is MUCH better than you flash on flash shot of her.

I am glad you liked the shots. Kinda silly but we had fun (makes us forget about winter).

540 is a big beast especially when used on K100D. The setup above, K100D + F 28mm F2.8, 540 FGZ plus batteries weighs 2lb15oz (1.335 KG).
I wish K100D had a battery grip or something. The grip is quite inadequate for such a setup (and I have small/medium hands). It breaks my arms after a few minutes.

Anyway, hope to upgrade to K10D sometime this year.

I used 540 FGZ only on auto so far with ceiling bounce and I am pretty happy with it.
The surprise to me was F 28mm F2.8 performance wide open especially when compared with FA 35mm: not too shabby. This makes it harder for me since I might have to part with one to raise cash for DA* lenses.
