American Kestrel (Hawk)

First one of these I have seen. About 6 to 8 inches tall.

Beautiful birds. We have one that comes in the spring. Scares all the Grackles to the point that they almost fly in to each other, in their hurry to get away.

Great pictures. Very good detail in the feathers.

lesmore49 I agree sure was a pretty thing. Did not stay in that spot very long. Thank you for looking and for commenting.

They certainly are pretty birds. I saw one when I was at the Salton Sea - so busy looking at water birds I almost missed him on the power lines. Hetook offbefore I could get in a better position.

Nice Kestrel you got there Roger! I like the details on the feathers on the 2nd shot. The first shot could use a bit more contrast/saturation to bring out the markings more.

Nice shots, Roger! Great detail. Like them both, but the second is my favorite. That soft and and cuddly look is so deceiving. : )

Regards,

Lawrence
