Coyote & Geese

While in Reno on business I went down to Washoe Lake. A little lake South of Reno.

Pentax K10D - Bigma

I saw something moving in the grass in a field just before I got to the lake. I used my binoculars to find out it was a coyote.

The field with a close up

I was able to get him to stop with a elk calf call. He ignored my crow call. I carry 2 different calls in my shirt pocket any time I am hunting wildlife.

Geese at the lake

Your one sneaky fellow to get that coyote to stay put. How far away from him were you? Great shots on him.

Hi Jim, I am not much good with distance. You can see him in the back ground photo. I waited for him to get closer to the edge of the grass to get the close up. He was probably 20% closer than in the back ground photo.

The ones I've been near, haven't hung around long once they spot you. Looks like he's on to you in the second photo.

As you can see in the background photo he was leaving dodge. I used a Elk Calf Call to get him to stop and look. A young calf elk would be a lot of good eating as far as he is concerned.

I have spent countless hours outdoors hunting and doing other things outdoors but I have only seen 3 coyotes in roughly 25 years. Realy nice photo.
