When I originally purchase the K10D and AF360FGZ flash the af assist worked both with the built in flash and the external. I have done the firmware updates and now when I need the AF assist it will not work. I have set the external to SB mode and it still does not work. Any Ideas? If anyone can test this with their K10D and AF360FGZ with firmware 1.11, I would really appreciate it as I am trying figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Interesting a Pentax Flash would be a problem.... no problems with my Promaster (P dedicated) 7000M flash, since the upgrade to 1.11.... which also has the IR AF assist.

Problem solved. Did not say anywhere in the manual, but when AFC is selected AF assist will not work even on an external flash. I had changed the AF setting and not set it back.

Ahhh that makes sense.....in AFC it would be rather annoying as it would always be on.
Extra drain on the Flash batteries too.
