Would anyone like to guess what they think the price of the Pentax 645D will come in at? Could be interesting to see who has really good intuition...

I think they will price it aggressively, say 8000 USD

considering all the years of R&D that went into it, and the fact that Pentax will want to offer a more wallet-friendly alternative for a Hasselblad, I would guess somewhere along 9999 USD with a kit lens.

Hi Ben,

Well it will certainly be more than I can afford... I would guess it to be in the range of $5,000.00 to $ 7,000.00.

Since the Hasselblad H3D-31 is priced at $24,995 they have plenty of room to work with to come in under that. I heard that it was going to be around $13,000, but I don't think it will sell in large enough quantities unless it is closer to $8,000.

Even that is out of most peoples price range and i don't see how they can sell enough to make it worth starting production of the 645D.

I would bet that it is $5,000 +/- $1,000. Why? These are all electronics. And given the huge drop in cost of consumer electronics ($20,000 for Hassy 2 yrs ago ) , the percentage drop should be around $5,000.
Optics is different story. I am talking about the body only.

Well, based on all of these other guesses, I am going to guess that I can't afford it!

Ben do we win one if we get the price right? Here's my guess $11,995. Suddenly I feel like I am on the Price is Right.
