That IS close. Did you need a tripod for this shot?

guess you are finding out how much of an advantage the flash is for this kind of shot.

Yes I used a tripod, no flash. I found with the tripod and stationary subjet longer exposure works best. I do have an old Lester Dyne ringflash, no TTL, but you have a small range to adjust too when working that close.

that's weird, exif says the flash fired.
