As moon shots are some of my favorites I like these. I got my K10D so I could stop the cloud movement by using higher ISO's and lower f/stops than was possible with my DX6490. But I still like the blurred effect sometimes.....kinda like softening the water with low shutterspeeds in a waterfall photo. It's not what is there in reallity but it just looks good!

Your first "doctored" image would have been more believable had the moon been behind the mist instead of covering it. I know it is a small thing, but it is those small things that people tend to notice when it comes to composited images. Otherwise it would have been a very nice shot.
