For K100D:

1.) Does anybody have negative (or only positive) experiences with this Sigma flashgun? Does it works always or misses sometimes (on bouncing especially)?

And for original Pentax flash users:

2.) What about Pentax AF 540 FGZ? Does it always fires correct or misses sometimes too?

360 FGZ comes out since it doesn't have swivel… The budget is also important (otherwise I would just take 540 FGZ without questions).

I have (or will have back soon) the Sigma EF500DG Super.

Very happy with it on my DL2. Fires perfectly every time. Exposure easy to adjust depending on what you are shooting. High speed shutter sync.

Basicly both the flashguns perform the same, but the Pentax is desighned for Pentax cameras, and is compatable with them all, whereas the Sigma is less than half the price and is reverse engineered. Therefore it needs re-chipping with each camera - hence mine going back.

I also believe tha the 540 will perform wireless with the K10D, whereas I am not sure the Sigma will (I will check when mine is returned)

My budget didn't stretch to the Pentax 540 so I bought the Sigma, and got a few lenses with the money I saved.

I have the 540FGZ and the EF500DG ST (not the super), just waiting for the diffuser for the Pentax flash and will try out both flashes on the DL and the K10D with and without diffusers.

Just playing with them so far and nothing technical, I have found the Sigma more compatible, more consistent exposures, but then agan I have had the Sigma for almost a year, just got it re-chipped and am more familiar with it.

I will post again when I have had time to test them out sid eby side with the same settings.
