The lens Kjell has is a A* 600mm lens that now is selling for the price of a used car and is an amazing piece of glass.

I keep looking at the photo and see it differently each time I look at it, and I like it since I see something new each time.

Now I can start over with the story Crash put to the photo!

Yes, a great piece of glass. I mean, just look at the focus on that calf which is right on the edge of the DOF!

Well, hrmmm, it's a Pentax lens and a Pentax converter... should anything else be expected?

Well, it's got the little known Automatic Cow Sharpness, ACS, only available on a few samples of this and the 1200 mm A*-lenses. When turned to "on" any cow in the picture becomes sharp, irrespective of how the rest of the picture is focussed. This function was developed by Pentax on demand of the Mongolian Cow Federation, but was a commercial flop and was abandoned already in 1999. I found this rare lens for sale in a flower shop in Ulan Bator in 2003.

Like cows, I completely missed them the first time :-).

This thread has been fun Kjell, I don't know what about your pic has inspired so much wit, but this is now the first thread I check when I come to the forum.

Thanks,

Tim

There was such a nice new moon tonight, I couldn't resist. Can it add to the mystery? Wolves, anyone?

That is a really good moon shot Kjell, I still have not had luck getting one that I think worthy of posting. As the cow thing is getting old I will avoid mentioning the old English nursery rhyme about the cow jumping over the moon. . .
