I wonder if Pentax will consider tethered shooting via the USB socket for the K10D with a Firmware Update?

Well, they would also have to do the software for that as well. It would be nice. But, I doubt it.

Obviously software would be required for the PC end, but it can't be that hard to write a program that tells the camera to execute shutter, etc.

All the Aperture controls and a shutter speeds are electronically controlled now anyways. So a simple program could be written for the PC.

The Firmware update would be a little more challenging, but then againif they are working at Pentax, then I assume they KNOW what they are doing andfor them maybe not such a challenge.

I am curious what the application for this would be? I could see advantages for a studio set up but is there something else I have not considered?

As you say, studio work, or watching a plant grow i.e time lapse photography, or hooked up to a laptop in the field.

Had problems loggin in and someone beat me to it. As Dal said, Studio work primarily, saves changing cards and allows an assistant to evaluate shots as you go.

Im a Pentax sales rep here in UK, hence my 'prediction'.

I was thinking along the lines ofnight skyphotography where they want a series of shots taken at 5 min intervals for 2 hours or somethng like that, then merge them.
