Hi Bigdawg.

I had to Google "cottonmouth" No way I`d go in the water where you live.

They can be very aggressive especially when they are all knotted up in a breeding frenzy...Sometimes a hundred or more will all be rolled up in the water and will bite anything that runs into them.

dawg,
being from new orleans and an old mudbug i know EXACTLY what you mean. you really haven't lived until a big ole cottonmouth has dropped into your pirogue to say hello. or had one or a copperhead chase you when you are swimming. how about them nice diamond backs?? did i forget the 8' alligators?? and the quicksand, always hated that stuff.

roy
Since they stopped folks from hunting them years ago the gators are making a comeback in the Tennessee River system. Never minded them that much as long as I know some are around...But to me and I'm not a viscious person by nature ..The only good cottonmouth or copperhead or rattlesnake is a dead one.

Diamondbacks don't like being messed with - my Golden found that out the hard way. He was bitten when he was about a year old and we were out hiking, about a mile or so from the trailhead (I got careless and was paying more attention to the map than where he was wandering off to). He was lucky, he didn't lose any skin but he was was one sick puppy for a week or two.
