Hi All,

Was running a lot of errands Friday, but was able to get off a couple of shots.

I just stopped at Bird Beach for a second, but was able to catch this male House Finch -- not bathing, but checking it out. . .

Got some tele-macros of a few flowers before heading off to the cemetery for an early Memorial Day for my Dad and Sis. The Tam 80-200/2.8 isn't a "macro" rated lens, but it focuses to @ 5.5 ft, so it works for flowers. The DOF is pretty thin, and the bokeh it renders is pretty smooth. . . (I think I'm getting better at this). . .

. . .Okay, maybe just luckier. . .:-)

Finally, on the final leg back home, I saw this med-large Painted turtle looking kinda majestic and aloof. . .

Hope everyone here in the US has a safe and good holiday weekend, and good shooting to all our friends from around the world. . .

Scott

You've definitely got the hang of using that lens for flowers, and the turtle is wonderful. Your humble house finch is (as usual) very good, but my favorite is the turtle.

Also hope that everyone is having a good weeknd, and those Americans celebrating the holiday are having a safe one.

Great shots all and yes, you certainly have the hang of using that lens for flowers. I am not going to pick a favorite, they are all good.

Great series, snostorm! Those irises are gorgous! Enjoy them while they are around...ours dried up last weekend. Oh, that shot of the turtle is awesome...I can never have the timing for one like that. Great job!

Have your Memorial Day is going well, too!
Ron

Hi Harriet, Tim, and Ron,

Thanks for your comments -- I'm liking this lens a lot -- kinda bought it on a whim, because of some things I'd read about it, and it surpasses all expectations by quite a bit -- one of my best impulse purchases ever.

The irises and fuschia (sp?)were just too striking to not take a shot at them, the turtle -- I had just caught a glance of it while driving by, and I actually had to back up to verify what I thought I had seen -- to find the pose was actually better than I'd thought. . ., and the finch couldn't have cared less. . .:-)
