A copy of this lens on e-Bay sold for $2,750on 5-31-07!!

JUST think of all the stuff you could buy for that much money.

Like a really great computer / software pkg for photo editing..

Or a great printer!

Or anything but a single lens.

What would you buy with $2700??<

Check out the price on a Sigma 300mm f/2.8 NEW.

I am glad I just bought mine USED.

Some lenses just cost a bit... more than others

I was looking to buy the Pentax FA* 80-200mm F2.8 ED (IF) and my guy can still get them NEW from Pentax, the NEW price is only fractionally more expensive than the USED ebay price. :-?

It depends upon the use. If it is you business and its is going to produce income for you and the price is right, then its a good/great buy.

I ran into a husband and wife up in Alaska who was equipped to the max on a whale watching boat. They were professional nature photographers. They showed me what they were able to get on the way back in. That is when I decided I needed to upgrade from my P&S - I was able to get a single frame of the whale breeching (jumping). At 5 fps they burned through 100 perfect images. ... and I do not even want to get into the puffens and false penguins. I am still after an 80-320 to complete my backpack for my next trip to Alaska. Who knows I may even be professicient enough for an upgrade from my trusty K100D to maybe the K10D.

The week before they went bear hunting on an island up there - they said they took about 8,500 images that were good enough to keep.

They were lugging around 5 bodies with varying lenses - just for the day's shoot.

They want $100 shipping on this one out of Hong Kong and $28 for insurance. I don't think that is a Pentax case either, even though the auction claims it is.
