My guess would be xenofex by Alienskin. Or some similar PS plugin.

As to Pentax going with a different sensor than Sony? Great. I love my K10 but it DOES have a fairly high amount of noise. It's the one thing that bothers me.If they could get a better sensor, with the K10 body man THAT would make me happy. I'm not knocking the K10 as is mind you, but improving the sensor would make it even better IMO. Make it a full frame CMOS with very low noise and I'll be over the moon.

That's what I'm kind of waiting for, like type, you know... since I shoot quite a lot in low light. FF all right, but will it ever be in reach of an amateur pricewise?

You're right, not frying the model would be better...wish I'd thought of that before I electrocuted the girl next door trying to make a photo like that:roll:

I have another "theory" though: was it done with directional light and shades? like cut the lightning form out of a piece of paper/whatever to hold in front of the light?

I'm 99.9% sure thats a plugin effect. If youhavea wacom and are good at hand drawing you could do the same thing of course. But that really looks like the lightning plugin that is part of xenofex.
