OK I'll be contrary... imagine that .....

I like #1..... and here is why

Good of both subjects.... and if you know birds it is not unknown of them (not sure of Ospreys per se) to PACE vehicles.....

In fact on Dicovery recently they did a series on the Ice Roads up there in Canada/Alask and there was a shot of a LARGE bird flying along side a Semi for some distance in the middle of a frozen lake, one shot across driver out the window and bird RIGHT there.... just pacing.

Hapens here in the Keys too but for different reasons.... if windy the Pelicans catch the updraft of the briidge sides, and will just go with the traffic down the bridge... with little physical effort... just moving forward not staying airborne. Likely that bird was doing the same thing too riding the trucks air wake.... as this Osprey might well do with a Big A$$ train.... though it might look better if you could rotae the ospey to be more parallel with the train.

And another consideration.... how big is this flyer.... if typical small trifold thing #1 with both subjects large is much more of an eye grabber, than the more distant shot would be.

Only thing I might change is move the Osprey a lttle to the left so it doesn't overlap the train.... OOPS that was Tom's doing.... no I find that a little distracting... plus making it behind the train makes it look like some mutant MONSTER... rather than idefinte place along side.

The angles are close enough that it doesn't instantly looked shopped

And PS #2 the Osprey just looks much more just pasted in there. IMHO.
#1 light angles are close #2 they are off by like 30+ deg.

Well I reckon you should do a double sided flyer and use both as they are both so good.

Roger nr1 would be my choice. Like the perspective of the picture, the osprey fits in the shot, even the dof looks more natural.

I like the train better in the second shot for the same reasons Kjell mentioned, the surrounding scenery tells me WHY I want to ride the train. However, I think the osprey looks better and better scaled to the second shot. I also like Tom's take on it too as it brings the scaling still closer.

I think you should tell them to use both to "fully realize your artistic vision."

The second shot gets my vote without doubt.

I also agree that the osprey needs some scaling, and also a bit of the old "blend if" around a selected boarder to give it less of a "cut and paste" look.

If you're not too sure how to do this, I'd modestly admit that I'm a Photoshop Guru on vacation, with some time on my hands and I'd be more than happy to get that bird more "into" the sky for ya.

Send me a PM if you'd like.

Thanks to ALL

Lots of good ideas.Thank you all VERY MUCH.

I have printed all the posts and will give it to the marketing director for the Osprey Fest and they can decide what they want done. I think all the ideas will make it easier for them to make a educated decision.

Thanks again to everybody who posted.

roger,
i'd go with #2 also but the whole image would be better if the bird was scaled down just a bit. maybe to the size off the 1st shot.

Second one as is and the edit Tom made is also good to me.

I like the "POW" and "WOW" factor I got from looking at the second one.

I don't feel the size is a distraction or that it needs to be scaled down.

It Screams, "Osprey" and I like that.
