Hello Pentax Owners & fans,

Today for the first time I try the Raw at DNG type..as I'm NOT 100% sure that my Picasa photo organizer accept the Pentax RAW:?

Here attached a newer open flower from my wife natal day gifted bouquet:roll:

The shoot was realized with my vintage Sunpak AF-443 flash at manual full power camera set to red "X" kit lens set at F:14, ISO set at 200 & the whole photo a little bit cropped!

Hope that you will enjoy it...:G

Peace,

Alex 007:|

Nice shot Alex. Picasa will allow you to view PEF files and will actually allow you to apply the basic editing functions it supports (though, of course, anyone shooting in RAW is not using Picasa for post processing). I use Picasa as my library software too.

Hi Tim,

Thanks for ascertaining this issue...my son downloaded me the last built of Picasa 2.7 (Built 36.40).

But as you already know...can't be mail any RAW photo...it's automatically transform to JPG...so really can't see any really or seriously advantage of any RAW type...whatever the cameras brands named it!; or I'm wrong...:?

Peace,

not much exif info available. great shot tho.
at this crop it would be better if you had a noise reduction programto take care of the noise. hope you don't mind alex

Dear Robar,

Really don't think that at 200 ISO...are to much noise/grain. as my crop was not so hugest.

But...your much more contrast & sharpest one may look as "Grainy"... yes NO EXIF as with all RAW modes...my Picasa programs don't show any EXIF information.:?

Thanks so much but seems me to much PP for me...(Personal taste of course!).

Peace,

Alex 007:|

The big advantage of RAW capture is that it gives you an unprocessed file that you can then process the way you want it. A jpg from your camera is adjusted the way the camera presets decide, a RAW image is processed by you, on your computer, using a program with far more options to adjust the look of the final image. Then you save it ass a jpg.

BTW as already mentioned, it is better to use the Pentax software for conversions than Picasa because it (the Pentax Photo Lab) offers far more possible adjustments.
