Hi All,

Seeing Roger's vulture post reminded me of a series I took last year with the DS, FA* 300/4.5 and the F 1.7x AFA. I posted another part of the series, where this GBH was fishing, but not these.

I was walking along a local lake, looking for the usualy suspects, when I saw this big guy fly in from the north. He seemed to settle in on my side of the lake, but about a half a block away, so I hustled down to where he was standing on an old fallen tree.
There was absolutely no cover, or things to brace against, so I was forced to shoot totally unsupported, standing out in the open after moving very slowly as close as I dared. . .

After catching two fish from the tree trunk, he decided to range a little further from it. . .

Ever unexpectedly step off a ledge while walking out into a lake? You might be able to relate. . .

Well -- it looks pretty good over there. . .

. . .Whoooaa! Where'd that branch go. . .

Aaarrrrggghhh!. . .(glub). . .

Okay. . . there it is. . .

Got it now. . . What a waste -- getting wet for nothing!

Uh oh. . . That guy wasn't taking pictures of THAT. . .was he?

Fortunately. . .YES!

The first four were taken in a burst, the last two were a couple of frames apart.

Hope you like 'em

Scott

Scott thanks so much for posting this series. I really enjoy a series when it makes me laugh and yours did that.

Thanks again

Bet he was saying "ooops!" Wonderful that you could catch this in the act - great timing.

Scott,

I love the series and the grumpy look of the last one. What a keeper & cool find.

Excellent shots.

Rogers style is rubbing off. Now if some of his talent could come this way....

Hey Scott, see what happens when you pick the right tree to sit against. That's all it is ...right Roger? ...picking the right tree to spend your day! Timing & placement ...Timing & placement!!! Good Lord, I sound like John Wayne..."Windage & elevation, sister!" Oh yeah ...& Bigma!

Thanks for sharing, Scott! Awesome series!
