Here are a few from todays performance of the RCMP Musical Ride.

I will include more in the next post. All of these images (from the evening show) were shot with the Pentax A-series 70-210mm f4. I will later post some images of the afternoon show when I used the Sigma.

Great series!

Great series, that No. 1 glove shot is so cool.

Hey, I love the horse! These are awesome shots - that lens sure looks like a keeper. All I can say is that the DA* 50-135 better be an awesome lens because I've passed on buying a couple of 70-210 lenses recently (sigh).

I can't decide which is my favorite - I love the gloved hand on the reins as well as the horse in the double bridle.

You've got a great sense for detail, Ira (this is no news, but anyway). A first class series. #2 has a lot of power in it, and #5 also cathces my attention, it makes me wonder what the horse is thinking of. Obviously the lens didn't work against you.

No real surprise, but I can't find a bad one amongst them!

Love them all - the use of DoF an dselective focussing, together with such tight crops is extremely powerful.

Thanks for the encouragement. I managed about the same proportion of in-focus shots with this MF lenses as I did with the AF lens in the afternoon (although, admittedly some of the "acceptable" MF shots did appear to be at the edge of the DOF.

ira,
a great series showing how good this lens is. i'd rate it a 10 except for the creep and no tripod collar. i love using it for fairs and get togethers also. for what it costs there is nothing in it's league.

Ira,

You have eyes for mundane subjects/detail that few people pay attention at all. Give me some idea as to how I can focus. Very nice series
