Well... After a weekend at SixFlags I came back rather horse sounding so work didn't want me to come in with my laryngitis. So I decided to take a trip to the Riverbank's Zoo and Botanical Gardens. Armed with my *istDS, Tamron XR 28-200mm, Sigma 100-300mm, and Vivitar (Kiron) 75-205mm Macro I snapped a few pictures. All of these have been converted from RAW, Cropped, Resized (Unless Otherwise Noted)and had Levels Adjusted.

As always, Comments/Suggestions Welcomed!

1) Pink Flamigo (Tamron 28-200mm)

2) Flower Macro (Vivitar 75-205mm)

3) Pink Flower (Vivitar 75-205mm)

4) Yellow Flower (Vivitar 75-205mm)

5) Trained Hawk (Sigma 100-300mm)

6) Trained Hawk (Sigma 100-300mm)

7)Hawk Portrait (100% Crop, Sigma 100-300mm)

8.Hawk Portrait (100% Crop, Sigma 100-300mm)

9) Hawk In Flight (Sigma 100-300mm)

10) Hawk In Flight (Sigma 100-300mm)

These are excellent close-up images. No. 1 (the Flamingo) gets my top vote--the eye in particular is quite the attention getter! No.7 of the Hawk is an impressive image as well. Great series...enjoyed viewing them!

You have some good shots there, I like the flamingo portrait and the first shot of the hawk. Your flower macro looks like a stamen from a hibiscus, you really did agreat job getting deep DOF on that macro shot.

Thanks for the comments. Didn't really think much of the flamingo shot when I took it, but it really caught my eye upon loading them onto my computer. I guess you guys liked it too.

Not sure what type of flower it is... I'm not big into plants, just like shooting them and never think to shoot the info card for my records, maybe I should start remembering that. :-)

Thanks for sharing your day at "Riverbank's Zoo and Botanical Gardens",

all shots are great but the stamen (2) and the first hawk shot (5) are imho even better.

The dof of the stamen is wonderfull.

Great shots - this quality always makes me want to go visit again.

As has been said, the flamingo is really eyecatching.
