this will make the news. a large gas works blew up today. the acetylene tanks were blowing like a string of firecrackers for 30-40 minutes. yeah--minutes. sharpnel and tanks were flying upto 1/4 mile. all major hiways and bywaysin and out of dallas are closed. this will be a nightmare for commuters. so far only 3 injuries.

Wow! That's one scary scene, isn't it? While I'm delighted you weren't around there when it happened, just think of all the pictures you missed because you weren't there.

I watched some of them - really scary.

Speaking of photography, one of the local news station's website had an aerial video clip of the "maze" building I posted in the architecture thread (taken from a helicopter) today. It was really neat to see what the building looks like fromabove - you could really see the two sections of the building and the catwalks that are between them. I can't find it now (it wasn't much of a story that caused them to fly over, nothing visual at all).Only some of us interested in the building would have found it interesting.

I have a friend that lives and works in the same tradeas mein Dallas and he was on the bridge about 200 yards from where this happened. He had his truck damaged by flying debris and saw one gas bottle fly over the bridge and out into the river on the other side. He said it was pretty scarey for awhile. Traffic was a mess yesterday, but I guess everything is going again now. He didn'ttake any pictures- Bruce
