Tried the AF 1.7 on my 80-200 zoom but it was too hot to be out too long.

Looks like it worked pretty well. I have a Tamron AF (a 1.4, I think) that I need to try with a few of my lenses (my 400mm, for example).

Tom,

I can see that the F is 9.5?
Looks like the additional FL is reflected. Ideally you can blur out the background with wider aperture.

I just wanted to try it with a fast zoom lens to see how it worked. The focus is extremely fast, but very limited to the front, middle and back area of focus with this lens. It is a 340mm f/4.7 with the AF 1.7, but the focus speed is really amazing.

I will try some more tests tomorrow if the weather is good and try some shots at 2.8/4.7.

It was 94F (34C) yesterday, with 90% humidity, almost like Florida or South East Asia weather.

Hi Tom,

The AF is very quick with the F1.7x AFA. The full focusing range rotation within the TC is pretty short and the lens group that needs to be rotated is very light, so with a fast, sharp, contrasty lens, it's lightning quick, and very positive, with little or no hunting because there is very little run over due to the low inertia of the glass being moved.

This is just one of the reasons I like to use it so much. A unique and very special piece of kit IMO.
