I picked up this adapter at an estate sale. One side fits into a Pentax (or any other) M42 screwmount camera. It is the other side which baffles me. Does anyone know what lens may fit into it? It has a slot at the bottom, and the lever that is situated at about 4pm moves up to the 2pm position, and the gear moves.

It is a Tamron brand, and has the letters P/ES on it. The best guess I can make is that it has something to do with a Pentax Electra Spotmatic (ES). I am hoping that it is for another brand lens so I can mount it on one side, and use it with an M42 to K adapter.

Anyone's help would be greately appreciated.

Hi nznhut,

Just a guess (and not a very educated one, I'm afraid), but I'd have to say that it's an Adaptall adapter for the Electo Spotmatic.

I've never seen one, but do know they made one, and the gear thingy is definitely Electro Spotmatic. The bayonet looks to be Adaptall, since the only other universal mount system that Tamron used, AFAIK was the T mount which was a threaded one.

I don't know enough about the compatibility between M42 and ES mounts, so I can't advise you about the useability of this piece -- Maybe someone at Tamron can point the way. . .
