I have some old lenses, one says SMC Pentex-F 1:1.7, 50mm the other SMC Pentex-F Zoom 1.4-5.6, 70-210mm. The camera was a Pentex SF-1. I read that the K10D will use all old lenses but on the specs I don't find these. Does anyone know if they can be used with the K10D?

Hi Don,

Both lenses will work with full functionality (both Auto Focus and Auto Exposure) on any Pentax DSLR, and they are both excellent lenses, BTW. The F 50 f1.7 will act like a 75mm lens -- a fast short portrait tele, and the F70-210 f4-5.6 will give the FOV of a 105-315 zoom when you take the "crop factor" into account.

The zoom is considered one of the best consumer zooms in this range ever made. The 50mm is probably the sharpest of the Pentax Auto Focus "fast 50s", which is saying a lot!.

Like the others said, yes they will work. If you are looking to get rid of the F50/1.7 PM me and I can get you hooked up with some cash

I have one SMC Pentax-F 1:1.7, 50mm and two SMC Pentax-F Zoom 1.4-5.6, 70-210mm. They work perfectly well on the Pentax digital bodies, and I can confirm that the zoom lens is one of the best zoom lensesI've ever used. There's a reason I bought a second, don't want to stand without one ifthe first oneis lost or dropped.

The 50 mm lens is also very good, but my copy doesn't really live up to this lensmodel's reputation. But then again I do demand a lot from my lenses, being a bit of a quality snob.

You're probably right, Roy, but it's a match in the Masters tournament.

Now, don't you believe everyone else, that old zoom you have just won't work on a digital camera. Lousy lens. I'd be happy to help you out and take it off your hands.

Seriously, I had the F 70-210 lens and it used to be by far my best lens. Unfortunately it broke before I got my first digital camera, and I was crushed when I found out it wasn't repairable because I was so looking forward to using it again. On the other hand, I bought a new lens last week that is finally helping me get over my loss.

Have fun using these older, very nice lenses on a K10.
