I used Rick's pics and used the automated process in photoshop, it basically created a 32 bit 'average' version, nothing like the dynamic range of his test image above.. but maybe there's more to it than I've been able to discern as the wife demands things around the house

The couple of times I tried CS2's "merge to HDR" feature I couldn't get it to work right at all - results were horrible. I figured there was something significant that I didn't understand about it. Apparently CS3's version is supposed to be better, but I haven't tried it yet. It may be like their noise reduction software - CS2 has noise reduction filter sliders but I couldn't get it to come up with what Neat Image gives me quickly and painlessly.

Thanks Rick, posting the three "before" shots really show what the software (and you) can do. I like the image even better after seeing how it was done.

Ah, the tutorial went over the methods in photoshop, too. I tried it out between honey-do chores and came up with this.. not as good as yours but I think it's more in the person than the program as far as that goes (veiled compliment)
