Very nice! I tried to photograph this same fountain with both an M 24mm 2.8 and a M 50mm 1.4 a while ago, but didn't have anything close to your success. Shows what a lovely lens (and a good photographer) it (and you) really are.

Hope you had a good time in the town that never sleeps.

Thanks for the compliment! I did some inside shots also with the lens and I seemed to work out very well. I really like the sharpness of this old lens!

Inside Ceasars Palace using the same lens, 1/125 sec @ f/2.5, ISO 400, istDS.

Well, it's not precisely a pile of junk, the A*85. If you use the in-camera focusing aid (green light/beep), is it accurate?. Mine isn't, which is a concern when focusing in dim light.

Kjell, on the shot with the water I couldn't use the light for focus, but in normal situations it seems to work just fine. At 1.4 the DOF is so shallow that I almost always use the screen to make sure I am focused on what I want sharp, as the light isn't always correct.

I really love this lens and it works so well with the AF 1.7.

Well, I'm really impressed with both of these. Perhaps I'll find a reason to go over to Ceasar's next time I'm there. Always looking for places to go where I can go take pictures and the others with me would be interested in visiting.

More impressed with the detail in the second one. Beautiful. AWB?

Just terrible Tom. I feel so bad about you having to suffer with that old lens; how about I send you $50 so you don't have to lug it around in your bag anymore? :-)

I bought the lens when I got my LX many years back and I have always loved it on a variety of cameras.

Both shots were shot using AWB, in jpg with my DS, the first in ISO 200 the second ISO 400. I thought about using RAW, but I actually like the warm color the AWB gave me and I find the sharpness of jpg to work for me most of the time.

I think I will suffer just a bit longer with the lens, thanks anyway.
