got the converter. thanks. it's in pieces as i write this. this was definately a job for a multi tip spanner wrench. no other way. looks like it will clean up just fine. it doesn't look like fungus and i have no idea what it is. i've another lens with the same fog in it..

thanks,
roy

very weird. i've got all the glass clean and clear except for one lens. this lens is still foggy after several tries at cleaning with alcohol and acetone. it seems like the glass itself is foggy. does anyone know what the problem is?

Some old glass gets like that and will clear up if left in direct sunlight for a few days.

Dang, that was fast for the USPS. Good luck, sending it to you relieved me of my "waste not, want not" sensibilities! If I thought I was man enough to take it apart and fix it, I would have done so already! :-)

this is an easy configuration but not an easy one to dismantle. it took 2 different spanners to get apart.

I could send you a picture of one...But you'll have to pay the shipping cost.

I have heard of that one Roy. Be nice if it is true - shows some cops do have a sense of humour!
