Couldn't resist posting this one. The original picture was taken not long after sunrise so there was quite a bit of light around, and the moon looked fairly good. However, I couldn't resist playing with it a bit and came up with this - it's not at all what I actually saw, but thought it was really cool. It was taken with the K10 andViv 105mm macro lens (not your usual application for a macro lens). It's one of the times the extra mp of the K10 comes in handy.

First - the full frame picture:

Here it is, cropped and only very slightly resized smaller. What do others think of something like this?

Nice shot... really love how it came out. I like the uncropped shot, but only because the clouds, had it been just a blue sky I would've preferred the cropped one because you see so much more of the moon.

Now that you got the Vivitar 105mm, I know you want to send that cheapy plastic thing to some guy in SC, right? LOL

H, you ought to copy the large moon and paste it into the first shot. that would be dramatic .

I can never type under a quote, very odd. Roy stole my thoughts, resizing the moon, unless it doesn't convert well, would be very impressive.

Roy - LOL! Actually I thought you did a good job of cloning Santa on the moon. I sure wish it were closer to Christmas - we were down in the S.F. Valley today and thought I was going to melt in the 100+ weather. Fall can't come too soon.

I didn't think about taking the moon from the cropped one and cloning it on the ff one - great idea! Here's what I came up with with about 2 minutes work:

Cloning Santa? I always thought he cloned in the tree to get a nicer composition. What now about my A* 1200 mm as a christmas present? Granny promised to tell Santa about my wish!
