I was out at the ball game again and decided to see if I could get some stop action shots. I was using my sigma 100 to 300, manual focus, and shooting at 1600 ASA. The shots are obviously grainy, but the ball is pretty still. There is no touch up except Picasa's "I'm Feeling Lucky" which brought out the colors a bit on the pictures.

The digitalnoise at this high ISO might be objectional against a clear blue sky, but it is not at all obvious with these busy backgrounds. No toher way to get the shots - well done.

Thanks for the comments, Rodney and Penolta. It is a lot of fun to watch baseball in Germany. What's really cool is seeing a bunch of kidsat the ball park throwing, catching and hitting a ball around!

Great shots... next time, you could try lowering theISO/ASA andusing AV or TV mode and manually setting your shutter around 1/1000"+ or your aperture to a wider setting.

You were shooting at 1/1000"+ and f/11+ so you really didn't need the ISO that high.

Don't take it the wrong way, I think these are both great shots, just a suggestion for next time to kill some of the noise.

Thanks Nick, that's a good idea. The last time I took pix of a ball game I did as you suggested. This was just another experiment and chance to play a bit. I love DSLRs!
