I can understand why you like this picture - it is very pretty. The one thing I sometimes struggle with, especially when it comes to flowers, is the DOF. It always seems to take a smaller aperture than I think it should. And when you start using a smaller aperture your shutter speed goes down so a flash comes becomes important (I'm still using the on-board flash, which has significantlimitations). Like anything else in photography, it's all compromise, isn't it?

Thanks mtngal!

Yes, it can be hard balancing the settings, I tend to take a few shots of the same subject with a few different settings as I don't trust either my eye's or the camera's opinion until I have seen it full size on my PC.

I really need a nice compact fold-up reflector, but my camera bag is already getting uncomfortably heavy!

LOL! I've been having the same problem - I think the weight of the bag has exceeded my shoulder'smax weight allowance by at least 10 lbs. It isn't that the bag is so difficult to carry(the Slingshot bags are well designed) but my arm is telling me that something iswrong.

I like the shot of the flower, the DOF works really well here, almost looks like an identical flower in the OOF area. Good job!

Thanks!

Really want to go through some of my photo's and get them mounted, I think this will be a nice one to have done.
