I don't know if this is a local phenomenon , but in my city I notice the cost of the K10D body, has gone down from $ 1099 a number of months ago..to $ 999 early Summer to a much more palatable $ 849 in the last few days.

All these prices are in Canadian dollars.

I don't know if these lowered prices are:
  • going to continue, are just reflective of my city (don't think so)?[/*]
  • are also happening in the U.S. and the rest of Canada?
    [/*]
  • are indicative of a new replacement for the K10D (K10D Super? ) possibly coming soon ?[/*]
  • reflective of the fact that the Canadian dollar has risen in value (now running at 99.18 cents US)?
    [/*]
Be nice to get a new K10D...but I wonder if the price will be even lower around November / December ?

Don't know anything about Canadian pricing but picked up my K10D today. Paid $715.00 less the $50 rebate(body only). Couldn't pass it up. Battery is charging now. This was thru a local dealer-online retailers are in the same ballpark

It's going to be interesting to see if they fall any further before it's replacement is announced. I'm guessing that the shops are assuming that it will be fairly soon and they are drawing down their stock, but I'm just guessing - no knowledge about what's going on. It's also possible that the new higher end options from other manufacturers are putting pressure on the price of the K10. In any case, it's nice to see it become affordable.

Just a guess-Pentax may have outsmarted themselves with the K100D Super-probably almost as good as the K10 at a lower price and they don't want to get stuck with an inventory problem. The rebate is over in another 10 days or so-unless another program starts.
