I know it is frustrting, but with enough persisitnce you are good enough that you will probably getthem eventually. I watched a couple of military Blackhawk helicopters flying in close formation (like your #1, but not quite that close!) this morning. They would have been easier to photograph. DfIFs are tough, even with a zoom- the DOF is too shallow if they are close and they are so fast that you can't even find them if you try to fill the frame, and thenthey are too small if far away or if you are zoomed out enough to find them. I assume you are using your 300 - options aremore limited without the flexibility of a zoom - what is its closest focus? And howis it thatyou pick up the blue color in your postprocessing (I saw some in your Cardinal photo, too)? There are blue dragonflies (like your Eastern Pondhawks), but it is usually only the males that are blue!

My best attempt would have looked like your #1, only without the dragonflies.

Mine too! Those little guys don't sit still too often, with that being said, I think these aregreat attempts. Keep it up, you're getting closer!

Well a lot better than I can do, I still haven't got one shot of dragons worth showing.
