Finally got to take some pictures of something tonight. Just came home from the concert. No photography allowed except for invited photographers. It helps to know the man in charge.

Abdullah Ibrahim is well known to those who know their jazz history. South African, exiled in the US from -62 to -90, then invited by Nelson Mandela to come back to SA and Cape Town. Formerly known as Dollar Brand. And tonight he was in the town where I work. Just couldn't let it pass.

Kjell, these are wonderful. I just tried to photograph my cousin's concert last weekend. It was dark in the theater, the floor was vibrating badly from the audience bouncing and I hadn't brought my tripod. A few came out. But, not nearly as nice as these. I wasn't quite sure what settings to use. So, tried a whole variation with my K100 and the two lenses I own.

You did good!

In this concert the theatre wasn't that dark, the stage light was perfect, and the audience (several hundreds of whom some hade travelled hundreds of kms) sat so still and quiet you could have heard a snail race through the grass, if it hadn't been for the piano music of course.

No tripod though, hand held.

Kjell,

My goodness. The reflection is a killer on the keyboard at F2.8.
Tell you guys some language thing. I am not from Taiwan. But from time to time I went through their Pentax fan site. They have a way of saying this about spreading LBA. They call the germ of LBA 'poison' in Chinese. So if people of excellent (usu expensive) lens post pict further confirming the lens' charisma/character, they are said to be spreading the poison.

Great shots Kjell! That 200/2.8 seems to be quite sharp. That wouldn't happen to be one of the * lenses that you own would it?

Yes it would. This is one of the occasions when I'm happy I spent my moneyon quality lenses. But this one I got dirt cheap, 1/5 of the current ebay price.

Daniel, I've been poisoned myself by you and others. Yesterday night I pressed the button and bought a FA 35 2.0, had to after Ira got one.

Thanks for the nice comments, everyone!

Kjell
