It's true.:-)

That's one of the reasons I'm not that sad I haven't afforded to buy the K10D yet, and still rely on my trusty DS (6 mp). That's also the reason why the K10 have ISO settings from 100 to 1600, while the DS have settings from 200 to 3200.

Of course the K10 have other advantages, but high ISO performance is not one of them.

...also the reason I am so tempted to go pick up the BNIB *istDS kit I came across yesterday as a backup. (Do you think$348 a fair price on a BN DS kit guys? lol)

nah, it's at iso 1600 then i'd think about switching to my 6mp dslr. k10d is very good at iso 400, even iso 800 is pretty decent imho.

here is an iso 800 shot sample with my k10d. no noise reduction. he seemed to be happy with his portrait, i didn't get any complaints!

if i were to get a backup 6mp nick, i'd want the k100d since it has shake reduction. plenty can be found on the pre-owned market for around that price. the ds has somewhat of a cult following and a premium for it since it can do ttl.

You have a point Ishino... I kinda liked the idea of TTL in my backup, but if I have to buy a PTTL flash anyway, I guess the K100 would be fine.

Nah, it's not about the quality level you choose on your camera, it's about how densely packed the pixels are on the sensor. That means you have to change camera to get the better ISO performance. And as Ishino says, up to ISO 800 there are no problems with the K10D.
