Dawg, I wonder about the sky on #4 photo. Did you

use a polarizer or what? Nice shot.... Jim

Some great shots, dawg. There are truly some beautiful homes in that northern tier of counties. I'm more familiar with the ones around Tuscumbia and Sheffield, but I have also driven through the historic areas of Athens.

Lots of restoration done to these old homes and they are on the National Register of historic places so the owners must maintain them in historic condition.

The first three were shot facing East with the sun just up above the house tops...The fourth one was shot facing North with the sun over my right shoulder. Bright whites then on the columns but deep blue in the sky. No filter used here.

Will do that, lol. But, Athens would just be ruined for me if my favorite eatin' place were gone (as I'm sure it is).....Mape's Vittuls.

I never got to see it, but my dad always told me the most beautiful of the Ante-Belllum homes was a plantation between Athens and the Tri-cities....The Forks of Cypress....but it was struck by lightning and burned in the late 60's.

Mape's is gone but Dub's is still selling good hamburgers!! LOL
