Thanks everyone. Number two was an attemt to get and keep the detail of the moon and still get the detail of the clouds and trees. after 10-15 exposures it happened. This required a delicate balance of Shutter speed, aperture adjustment and ISO. Also Focal length and lens choice makes a difference. I used the SMC-M 50mm f/2 lens with the K10D camera set at 3 seconds exposure, f/2.8 and ISO 200 with the White Balance at Auto WB. The exposure was set to Center weight and the Focus was Center Spot.

Hope you don't mind me adding my modest moon shot. Great images BTW.

#2 is very nice. Ira - I wouldn't call that "modest" - it's quite outstanding!

Very cool series...I'll have to go along with #2... then #4 for me. You know this might be an idea for a challenge...celestrial bodies. Ira, your shot reminds me of one that I did a few months ago with my 170-500mm. I really was hoping to do something similar to what Dawg did but didn't get the chance Thursday nite.

Is it me or does the moon resemble a melon (honeydew or cantalope) & that one crater towards the bottom right looks like the stem mark??? with ridges running away from that crater?

Too much imagination I guess!
Thanks for sharing, Dawg & Ira!!!
