Edit - Having just skimmed over this http://www.audubon.org/bird/boa/F16_G5b.html

I think I understand why you want them gone.

Nice shots Roy,

we don't have any free parakeets in our neighborhood, but I know that there is a bunch of escapees in a park 50km.

Just hope some of them migrate closer to my place :G

the power company here hates these birds but are doing an excellent job at PR.

the leaves on the trees are still on the trees and you can hear what seems to be 50 of them in the tree but you have to look very intensely to se them as they blend in so well. i'll try for some more soon.

Hi Roy,

In the Chicago area, there are at least two large colonies of Parakeets living in the wild. They obviously aren't native to the area, so they're all escapees and their offspring, but they have built very large communal nests, and live in them year 'round. I know approx where they are, but haven't gotten down there to investigate -- maybe next spring, I'll make it a point to find them and get some shots.

scott,
that's exactly what they've done here. one of the links mentions chicago. the electric company here is doing all they can to keep from harming them but it may be a losing battle.. here's another from yesterday. didn't even get out of the car. hey--- it was a drive by shooting... lol
