I am about to leave for a trip to the rain forest of Central America, I dont want to take my dslr along for fear of loosing it or damaging it. So I picked up a Pentax A30 to take along. This is the first test picture its a leaf structure about an inch in actual length new growth at the end of a plant.

Nice shot. I can understand your reluctance to take the slr and it looks like your A30 will do a fine job. Good luck and stay away from those big misquitos!

Very nice closeup. How well does it do on vistas?

To answer your question Dawg, I went out and quickly took a couple photos to see how it did on vista'sThe second one, the building (the VAB at NASA) is at least 18 to 20 miles from where I was standing, The photo has not been retouched.
