I took this today when I was driving down the street to take some wildlife pictures. I was wondering what caused this effect in the color?

Hi Fl,

I'm thinking that it's some kind of refraction effect. It all seems to be within a certain range of offset from the sun.

I'm curious as to whether this is the way it looked, or does it just appear that way in the shot?

It looked that way to the naked eye and only lasted about 3 min. It was even better when I first noticed it but couldn't find a clear line of sight fast.

It looks like a sundog?

There was another phenomena yesterday visible from Pensacola west. A huge hole in the clouds. There are several pictures of it from Pensacola to Mississippi.

This isn't my photo but it was taken by a former military meterologist with a K10d!
