Some really great shots here from very talented shooters. Here are my 3 favourites from 2007.

Image of monks praying on white sand dunes - shot @ Phan Tiet, Vietnam,

Image of woman, sitting and enjoying the beach, shot @ Maracas Bay, Trinidad

Image of Fisherman's boat, shot @ Las Cuevas Day, Trinidad

Happy photographing in 2008 everyone!

Thanks Dawg, she's really something. She's 2 now, and the more she grows up, the cutier she gets ( of course I'm speaking as father not objectively ).

Hi All,

I've been thinking about this for quite a while, and kept changing my mind, but I've settled on these. Strangely, only one bird shot made the final cut.

The first is my favorite of the over 1,000 shots I took (thanks digital!) of the new Polar Bear baby at Brookfield zoo a few days after his introduction to the public in March. It's one of the few that I submitted to the PPG that was accepted. Too bad I cut off the tip of mom's nose. . .

This portrait of a juvenile GBH took some stalking, and was taken through a very small opening in the bushes that are very thick on the shore of a little lake by my condo. Shows what a 510mm lens can do at under 10 feet away.

The last is my favorite of the 1,000+ shots I took of the new baby Amur Tigers at Brookfield Zoo. It has some emotional value since this little guy died a few weeks later after being mauled by his father when he found a small opening in the fencing separating them and stuck his paw through it trying to play with his dad. His mom tried to pull him away and injured both his tail and his sister's in her attempt to save the babies. The zoo vets tried to save him by amputating his mangled paw, but he died after some complications to the anasthesia during the long operation. It was a very sad situation. . . but at least his sister is okay. . .

And I want to congratulate all the other posters in this thread (and this forum) for some very fine work in the past year -- and hope that 2008 will be another good one for my fellow Pentaxians. . .

Scott

These images are magnificent, proves that the photographer is far more important than the lens (and that the kit lens has tremendous potential).
