Does anyone know if or where I can obtain a replacement camera strap for the *ist D.

I've seen 3rd party repalcements but I don't really like the bright red Pentax logo.

That is also the way mine came with the K10D. So the factory ones have the red or red-orange lettering!

I replaced my K100 strap with one from Ritz soon after getting it. It's been great. Padded and doesn't scratch my neck when worn for long periods of time. It's a Quantaray brand. Mine is a dark grey. I think it was $15.

Are they really that good? 30 years of taking pictures and I still can not stand to put a camera around my neck.

I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one who hates the Pentax strap. It's just plain old-fashioned uncomfortable, and is a tremendous PITA when shooting in portrait mode with the hand grip shutter release.

Thanks for the ideas. I am definitely going tosearch for a replacement.

When the lens gets big enough , you either have it around the neck or on a tripod...LOL

just be sure to get the PRO series with the 3/8'' connectors.. i'm not sure how long i could carry the tammy 300/2.8 around much without it. just make sure you get the PRO series if it's heavy. i have a classic as well and there's a big difference.. i also have 3 sets of lower straps that connect to either upper support..
