My ebay auctions just ended and when I saw the outcome I was really surprised. Vivitar series 1 70-210mm f2.8-4 sold for 104 GBP!! and I paid for it 25GBP just under 2 years ago. If only I knew they would gain so much value I'd have bougt few more of them .

50mm f.17 and flash made together 80GBP, bringing total to 179 which means it almost paid for Sigma 10-20mm I bought few days ago. so in all I'm very happy now.

Hey Greg,

Apparently these are going price in UK. Likely not in the U S. Some people said there may be insanity . But look at your case, it is entirely a question of supply and demand. So we would expect shortly some wide angle posts from you?

sure, I hope to go somewhere this week to try this lens. the only problem will be filters as I use Cokin P ND grad and Polarizer and I know this won't work on Sigma lens.

From what I could find this Vivitar was the only one on ebay at this time, but I saw one sell for 135 GBP few weeks ago. and mine was for Ricoh so it works on Pentax only in full manual mode but it still went for insane amount of money (for the same money you could get Sigma 70-300mm APO). but hey, I'm happy with that.

The Viv S-1's in 70-210 f/2.8 and Auto A are getting very scarce and pricey. I'd love to have one but my all manual f/3.5 will have to do me I guess!

But the flip side is that, being careful with my money (or just plain miserly!), I thought I could pick up some old Pentax lenses off eBay for next to nothing. Just shows how wrong I can be. Oh well, I'll stick with what I've got - for now ...
