Does pretty well getting the light out there.

This is a test shot at 500mm and f/6.7- ISO 400 - 1/180sec. These I'd normally use at this time of day. Feeder is between 20 and 25 feet away!

Same feeder at f/16 - ISO 400 - 1/180 sec. Notice the change in DOF off to the left of the tree trunk!

This one is with the better beamer at 30 feet away at f/8 - ISO 400 - 1/180 sec - -500mm!

The first pair are very good but in the second pair it seems that the beamer may have been too effective, looks a little overexposed. It definitely works now it will just take practice to get the exposures consistently right.

I over did it on purpose Ira just to show the difference it can make. And you are right! Now comes the hard part of getting the setting right when using it.
