ok, first, I went out the other day and shot nothing but RAW, first time I had tried this with the K10D. I am now playing with processing these using a free program called Raw Therapee. I have all the others, Silkypix, Lightroom, and PPL but thought I would give this one a try.

Picture is of a snowy egret in breeding ploomage, and with the reflection of the sun in his eye, thought the title fit. I was using my trusty old Tamron 70-300mm DI

Hi Terry,

Nice Egret portrait! We only get Great Egrets up here, and I've never gotten quite that close to one.

I think that the "glint" is actually the sunlight passing through the the eye's lens sideways from about 2 O'clock and focusing at the front of the eye. I've seen and captured something similar a few times on Great Blue Herons accidentally. The sun has to be at just the right angle.

On this forum, we seem to see a lot of shots from the Sigma 70-300 APO Macro, so it's good to see aomething nice from the Tamron -- I tend to prefer Tamron over Sigma if they offer equivalent lenses.

Wonderful shot - and shows that the Tamron is another good performer.

Interesting effect, the sparkle in his eye.
