This has proven to be one of the most interesting Monthly challenges with an amazingly broad range of choices, all excellent. My vote, though, has to go to Glenn's portrait.

Good subject, tough choices.

I am going with Patty's (nhmom) Stump, followed closely by Glen's face.

I'm having a terrible time making up my mind - there's 3 pictures I want to vote for and another that's a favorite but not sure it's as apppropriate to the topic as the other three. I'll vote tonight, after I think about it some more.

I have to go with Glenn's elderly lady. That is one fantastic capture, perfectly exposed and full of detail and "texture" physical and otherwise!

There's just way too many good choices. It came down to Glenn and Patty and I've gone back and forth all day between these two. They are both outstanding shots, but today I'm going go for color and vote for Patty's stump. Too bad they can't both win.

For me it was a toss up between Glen and Patty as well. Very tough decision for me, but in the end I chose the stump, submitted by Patty. I must congratulate everyone this month, though. What a neat collection of photos. Well done

This month's winner is nhmom's excellent capture of a crosscut stump. There is no question that this photograph strongly reflected the theme of texture!

Congratulations Patty, May's challenge is yours to host!

I voted early myself, and have no quarrel with the winning entry, but I don't recall any recent monthly challenge being closed off after what amounts to only two days' voting. Last month's was short too (and people got left out), but not this short. I think that in the future, the number of days to be allowed for voting should be specified in advance, so that everyone who wants to can have the opportunity toexpress their choice.
